Using Insurance for In-Network Therapy Services
Transparent Information and Guidance
Insurance & Understanding Your Benefits
If your insurance is with:
Aetna, then I will bill your insurance with Alma.
Anthem Blue Cross of CA, UCSHIP, UnitedHealthcare, or Oxford, then I will bill your insurance through Headway.
UCSHIP: You will need a referral from your school’s Student Health Center before you can verify your insurance benefits and start therapy. More information here↗
Benefits Calculator: You can enter your insurance information in a Benefits Calculator tool on Headway↗ or Alma↗ to get an estimate on what your insurance covers.
Primary Insurance Only: At this time both Headway and Alma only work with primary insurance, not secondary insurance.
Calling insurance to verify your benefits: This is optional, but recommended to help you understand if your insurance plan has any limitations, or requires specific approvals before you start therapy. These are details that Benefit Calculators may not provide.
